#HUDSONGIVES
Allow me a moment to ask for your help in supporting an organization that means the world to me… Jersey City Writers.
I joined this community-based group when I moved to Downtown Jersey City, NJ two years ago and my time with them has been nothing short of rewarding. I found a community of like-minded individuals who helped me foster my ambitions of writing my first novel — something I have wanted to do for a long time, but never found the motivation to stay on task. JCW helped me get there.
The greatest challenge to any aspiring writer is forcing themselves to commit to the time required to avoid the many distractions of everyday life and finish that novel. JCW has been a vital lifeline to me because my fellow writers have helped foster my devotion to the craft and hold me accountable when it comes to putting in the time and work required.
Today is #HudsonGives day, an annual fundraiser to support arts and other community-based groups in Jersey City and the rest of Hudson County. I’m hoping that you would consider donating any amount, large or small, to help JCW increase the services they provide to the city’s aspiring authors. Times like this show us how important groups like JCW are to the community and I hope that you can give whatever you can…

Here are a few words from some the writers you would be helping with your contribution…
The JCW is a literal lifesaver! From prompt nights, full story manuscript reads, genre night events, how to craft your book series and so much more, they are an invaluable source for my work. Writing groups that I’ve actually PAID for didn’t even offer a fraction of quality or care as the JCW. I love this group.

Jersey City Writers holds a special place in my writing journey. It not only supported me and celebrated my work but also gave me the necessary platform to interact and learn from the writers of my community. It’s a warm and inspiring community of the local writers which encourages them through multiple events and meetups. I’m a special fan of the Jersey City Genre reading nights.

JCW gave me a sense of direction. It helped me find like-minded who encourage me towards my artistic goals. Don’t underestimate the power of community.

“No pre-apologizing” is one of JCW’s rules. From JCW, I have learned I don’t need to apologize for the words I write. Instead, I’ve learned to share them with JCW members who provide kind, generous, and supportive feedback to enable me to create a stronger piece. The world will be a better place if we all apply this lesson in our daily lives as well as our writing. Share what you have to offer and stop pre-apologizing!
